What types of fish can survive in a fish bowl?
I know you can keep a gold fish, and beta fish in a fish bowl and it will survive in the bowl. But what other fish can survive in just a fish bowl without an airpump and heater, and everything you need for a big aquirium.
here is a list of aquatic pets that can be put in the bowl. A few Ghost Shrimp, and a Black Mystery Snail are appropriate for a large fish bowl. Another good combination for a fish is three White Clouds, a few Ghost Shrimp, and a Mystery Snail.Live Aponogeton Plants, Java Ferns, and an Umbrella Fern add natural beauty. A Dwarf African Frog can live in a fish bowl but will need to eat live Black Worms twice a week

You should visit Pet Smart or another pet store and here is why! Once you get the itch, you'll see that even goldfish will be nice to watch untill the glass in the bowl gets dirty, then you can clean it or buy another fish that helps you…..then you'll see another fish you'll like and before you know it you'll buy one of those small filters…then you'll find out that filter works in a bigger tank…then you'll get the tank and have room for more fish….It really is a fun hobby!

There is absolutely not one kind of fish that can survive in a fish bowl, especially goldfish. None. The only fish that should be kept in a bowl are glass fish. Goldfish need at least 10 gallons of water PER fish. Minimum. The rule for tropical fish is 1 inch of fish per one gallon of water. Considering that these bowls are about half a gallon (or less!), that means that you might be able to keep one 1/2" fish in it, maybe, and that would only be until it grew larger. But, you couldn't even do that because fish also need filtration and most need heat. Even betta need at least a couple of gallons of water to properly live and be healthy and happy. If you put fish in bowls, they will die. Period. There is no other outcome but that. Marbles or glass rocks belong in bowls. Potpourri belongs in bowls. Candles belong in bowls. Candy belongs in bowls. Fish do not belong in bowls. None of them.

I don't understand why some are saying that gold fish cant live in a fish bowl, I bought this small (can't recall the name of this) but i's a small aquarium, with a cover. and a light attached to this cover, meant for small fish, so I went to the pet shop and they told me, one of this fish that do well is in small areas are gold fish, mind you they're small, but I have to of them, and had them for almost, six months they look happy and very healthy

for 30 dollars you can get a 10 gallon aquarium at walmart with a hood, light and filter.
a fishbowl is at least 10 dollars at a pet store.
fish are generally happier with more space than a bowl. i keep bettas and yes they can survive in a small bowl — but give them a small 2 gallon tank or 2 gallon bowl with a couple plants and it is a different fish — they swim around and don't just sit on the bottom. there is a difference between surviving and thriving.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A GOLDFISH BOWL!!!! Only betas can survive in a bowl with a lot of water changes. Goldfish need big tanks with filters, heat and air. The goldfish bowl is something you see on TV, it is not a kind thing to do to the fish. Its the equivlent of you living inside your high school locker.
