651DSM, i will explain it as simple as i can.
freshwater= lake, pond, river ETC.
saltwater= ocean.
freshwater aquariums are easier to maintain.
and if you are saying that you use tap water for your fish, i would have to urge you to stop. your tap water needs to be dechlorinated.
so to answer your question tap water is fresh.
you make saltwater by mixing freshwater with aquarium salt.
