[My PETS] My Freshwater Fish Tank [PT-4]
My NEW Green Texas Cichlid (Carpintis Cichlid):
This is a beautiful, rather aggressive mid-sized central American cichlids suitable for smaller tanks. Not excessively aggressive except during breeding but this is a common characteristic for almost any cichlid. However, their relatively small size poses less risks for the other inhabitants.

wow its very …
wow its very interesting to see texas this size..because most of the texas I have kept are very slow growers..and I guess its better to grow them by themselves because they always go looking for fights and end up getting killed, unless they are the bigger one..

The pictus should …
The pictus should get along with all those fish, the only thing is the PH needs of all the fish, it’s not a must but a sugestion being that most fish are tank raised not caught in the wild. But the pictus need a low PH and the Africans need a higher PH. Other than that, pictus are a good choice, and they are ver active and are a good looking fish. I have a couple in my oscar tank and the keep to their own, and also do well in a little higher ph than recomended.

Goldfish are goofy …
Goldfish are goofy and often entertaining….but high maintenance. I couldn’t stand doing such frequent water changes and filter changes. They are nasty!

LOL A lot of fish …
LOL A lot of fish are more boring than gold fish. I just used two goldfish of my daughter to cycle a tank and thought they were actually more interesting than many other freshwater fish I own or owned. Wouldn’t like to have them though.

Pictus catfish …
Pictus catfish should be ok. I would be careful with their whiskers but they are mostly bottom dwellers so I don’t see it being a huge problem.

Setting up a tank …
Setting up a tank to match its natural environment will require plenty of plants and rocks. Since it grows quite large, starting with a minimum tank size of 70 gallons is recommended. As the Columbian Shark grows larger, there is a chance that the shark will eat smaller tank mates. This species prefers some aquarium salt in the water, and may also be acclimated slowly into a saltwater aquarium, as they live in both freshwater and saltwater during different times of their life.

Thanks for the info …
Thanks for the info I already knew. Fish will not grow to their ‘own’ size, however, they will reach their full captive size in any size tank in time. It could take 2 years to get an Oscar to grow 10 inches in a 125 gallon tank on live feeders but 8 years to grow 10 inches in a 29 gallon tank. Anyways, thanks for recognizing my tank and creating a discussion.
